i like to watch

Posted by caoboy on July 9, 2009

i spent yesterday evening at veronica’s to hang out for a bit. cooked dinner, hung out, and watched some moto racing from misano, italy. about halfway through the race, veronica asked me why do i like to watch racing? ( i figure she was getting bored at this point) and you know what? i couldn’t answer it right away. i had to think about why i love watching these machines being driven around at dangerously high rates of speed, coming within inches of each other. but i figured that i love to watch the battles. to see someone come up behind another racer and set himself up for a pass, and watching the battle that ensues after it is pretty amazing to me. probably why i posted the nurburgring video here, and the dtm video in my last post. i guess that guys like to watch competition, mostly through physical sports like football and basketball. but in racing it’s the same thing. people just say that they are driving around in circles (literally in nascar’s sense) and that it’s boring. but you can say the same thing about basketball. get the ball, run down the court, try to make a basket. rinse, lather, repeat. with racing, there are so many battles that go on for positions, just like how there are different plays or strategys. watching drivers attack at every opportunity they have, making that clean pass, only to get chased down by the person that they just overtook. thats probably why i spent a morning last summer watching full covereage of the tour de france. that was 3 hours of watching guys in tights riding through villages and small towns.  it’s all the same, just in a different medium, so i don’t understand why people give me flack for watching racing for 4 hours straight, when people watch basketball all day.

in other news, i haven’t touched my camera in weeks. been so caught up with things that i don’t even think about taking pictures anymore. but i should have some coming up soon. i’d hope. still miss karting, so i think i’ll be doing that sometime soon. hopefully i can do a writeup of that or something.

i also want a bicycle. an orange motobecane messenger really caught my eye, and it’s only $350! yeah, expensive for a bike, but most ss/fixie bikes go for over $700, like the specialized langster, which is a very, very nice bike.

here is the bike that i’m looking at.

thats about it. just lettin ya’ll know im not dead.

Posted by caoboy on June 30, 2009

since my last karting adventure last weekend, i’ve been itching to drive again. all i’ve been doing is watching videos and replaying the laps from last weekend in my head. i think there might be something wrong with me. i just feel at home when im behind the wheel. i need money to drive the mx5 on track again. anyone want to donate to the alexneedsmoneysohecangotrackandonedaygotoskipbarberfordrivingschool fund? it would be greatly appreciated. anyways, here is a video from the last dtm race in norisring. pretty intense battle once again

time for a soy-lution

Posted by caoboy on June 23, 2009

i am sure that every one is aware of all the health benefits of soy. it’s high in protein, low in fat and saturated fats, and can even help reduce heart disease. not only that, but it is also a cheap source of protein that is often used in a lot of products that people consume, like ensure and other protein supplements. i for one have loved soy since the first time i discovered it when my mom made ma po tofu. and after learning about all these wonderful benefits, what isn’t there to love about it? right?

wrong.  although i have not read anything about soy’s effect on women, for men, soy is a horrid horrid thing(at least in large amounts, i’m sure small amounts of soy wouldn’t hurt.) i am sure many have heard that soy in males will produce boobs. yes, boobs. it’s true, there have been multiple cases and studies done that show that men have in fact grown man boobs. this is because of two key chemicals found in soy, genistein and daidzein. these two chemicals, whether on their own or mixed together, act as a plant prouced estrogen. why would males want estrogen?(we want more testosterone! MEAT! SEX! PORN!)

as shown in an example from a study conducted a few years back, one man had high levels of soy intake, through soy milk and other products containing soy protein. after a while he started growing breasts, along with mental and emotional changes. not only did he grow breasts, he started losing hair in typical male areas, as well as he stopped waking up with morning wood. yes girls, guys wake up with boners. he had lost his sex drive, and his penis became more flaccid.(NO!!!!!!! MOAR TESTOSTERONE NAO!) not only that, to top it off, he became more emotional as well. like crying in movies. sad to say, this is only one example of the harmful effects of soy.

in a study done at the university of illinois, a biologist discovered that mice babies with higher levels of soy intake developed a smaller thymus gland, a key part of the immune system. does this mean that babies that have high soy intakes are more likely to get sick when they’re older? it’s hard to say. but still, this is something that should be brought to mothers’ attention.

in another test done by a harvard study, tests showed that the level of soy consumed by men was correlated to their sperm count. those with higher soy intakes showed 32% less sperm per ejaculation. not only did this concern arise, but another test was done and the quality of young males’ erections also decreased. how to test this you may ask? their levels of testosterone production had dropped, they had softer erections, and the tissues of the penis became less elastic.

in yet another study done in indonesia, those over 68 were tested about their soy intakes. those that consumed the most amount of soy, had nearly double the risk of getting dementia. for those that don’t know what that is, it is similar to alzheimer’s, in that one will experience short term memory loss. mostly comes with old age.

all in all, soy has a lot of effects that go overlooked. even though these studies have been on those with high soy intakes, it is still a factor that people need to take before they order their venti soy lattes. does this mean that i’m going to stop eating soy products forever? no. will i cut down my intake? hell yeah. i don’t think i’ll be purchasing soy milk anymore, or ordering soy based coffee drinks, but i’m still going to inhale that bowl of edamame at japanese restaurants. does this mean that women will grow bigger boobs by consuming soy? i dunno, but it doesn’t hurt to try! ;)

just goes to show, don’t believe everything that the media goes to tell you without doing your own research.

[mc]gangbangin’

Posted by caoboy on June 18, 2009

how does one enjoy their first day of freedom for summer? i didn’t really have anyone to hang out with for the majority of the day, so i decided to try a mcgangbang, which kenny told me about a while back. for those that don’t know, a mcgangabang as described by urban dictionary is:

McGangBang:

A double Cheeseburger and McChicken. Simply split the double cheeseburger between the two meat patties and place the McChicken inbetween the two meat patties and enjoy. Both dollar menu items. depending on sales tax can cost anywhere from $2.12 to $2.16

after he told me about this i just had to try one, so what better time than when i have  nothing else to do and im hungry? so here’s my little writeup on the mcgangbang.

step 1.

order a mcchicken and a double cheeseburger. i ordered a iced mocha because the mcdonalds i went to had a special where you get a free sandwhich with an espresso drink.

step 2.

separate your double cheeseburger patties, and insert the mcchicken patty. (i ordered the mcchicken with no mayo to save on a mess and calories.)

step 3.

enjoy.

review:

i thought the sandwhich was pretty salty under my first impression. the mcchicken is too salty, maybe this would have been different if i had mayo on it. i don’t know. however, i did like the crunch factor that the breading of the chicken added to the burger. quite an experience.  i couldn’t finish it at the end, i think something in my head said that this is too unhealthy. even though it is more healthy than eating these two sandwhiches separately(cut the carbs on the second sandwhich), there was just something about seeing all the oil from the burgers on the wrapper that wouldn’t let me finish it. total damage according to the mcdonalds website: 600 calories, 32g of fat, 12g sat. fat, and 1630mg sodium.

ended up finishing the day by building a bed for sandra and trish over at veronica’s place.

sorry for the shitty cell phone pics. im not bringing my camera into a mcdonalds.

is fcking ridiculous.

now, i was a huge fan of the first video, which you can find here , but i think he just went over the top on this video. Yes, driving was good again, but it looked so cheesy with the water baloons and truck blowing up. i dunno, maybe just not my cup of tea.

not doubting his skill, i had some butt clenching moments while watching it, i just felt he needed to capitalize too much on the whole “insane” part.
