well, as most of you better know, yesterday was my birthday! and how else better to spend it than to be on the track? was a good day indeed, even though there were some mishaps and extreme heat.

the first session was alright. blue group (because im too slow for black) didn’t get on track till 10am. dave from speedventures walked through the grid, and told everyone that this was a “warm up session”, which i think some people took too seriously. it was a shakedown for me, since i have not pushed the car since the springs/sways/tires were put on,  i was stuck behind a white evo for 3 out of my 4 useable laps. (5 laps average, one warm up outing lap) i was seriously cruising in 4th gear, until i FINALLY got a point by, but by then it had ruined all my laps. my best during the session was only a 2:20. as you can see from the pictures below, i still need coilovers. springs + thick ass sway bars still produces a lot of pitch and roll, which made my car unstable in certain sections. more on that later. Continue reading ‘nc’s shakedown’

so last weekend i went with my family to check out the santa monica farmer’s market. turns out that there is more food than produce, but it still has quite the collection. i wish i knew about the food, those 14″ diameter pancakes looked mighty fine. Continue reading ’santa monica famers market’

it doesn’t really seem like this recession that we’re all stuck in is affecting scu all that much. of course, we all know that the admin likes to keep the campus pretty, which i understand, helps bring in new students and whatnot, but if they’re going to spend the budget that they do, you’d think they would take care of all the dead grass yeah? Continue reading ‘reccession for scu? maybe not.’

profiled?

10Aug09

so last night i decided to walk to the nearest starbucks because it was ridiculously hot and i was craving some kind of iced coffee drink. but living in damn cupertino, the place closed at 8! wtf. ANYWAYS, on my walk back a cop rolled up next to me and after staring at me for about 5 seconds, asked me for my name, and if i knew some kid. after looking at the picture, i realized that the person he was looking for was a skinny asian kid with long hair like mine. now, i knew this cop was already there because i saw him pulled over talking to some white girl, but i don’t think i heard him ask anyone else that was soliciting in the parking lot. was i racially profiled? i don’t know. all i know was i had the shit scared out of me when he rolled up by my side.
